Is the club getting a bigger scoreboard or video screen?

A bigger screen has been requested by supporters for, by one estimate, around 20 years, and it has been discussed seriously at the last two meetings. The current screen measures roughly 3 metres by 1.75 metres. The club has costed a like-for-like replacement of about 12 metres by 4 metres at approximately £55,000 to £60,000 including screen, steelwork and software (minutes of 4 August 2026). In September 2026 the Head of Ticketing and Fan Engagement confirmed the quote under consideration is £55,000 for a screen the full width of the current screen and the adjacent advertising boards, at double the current height. A new screen would have to stay in its present position because of underground cabling and unknown ground conditions.

Instant replays, as seen at Doncaster, are a separate capability: they need video-mixing software and an operator, so the club's view is that the screen should come first and other functionality follow. Both the Chief Executive and the Head of Ticketing agree a bigger screen would add to the matchday experience and could show images of fans, and the Chief Executive described it as a potential "signature project" for the FAB because it would benefit every supporter in the ground.

On funding, the club has said advertisers will not commit money to a digital asset the club does not yet have, although a larger screen would increase the advertising inventory the club can sell. The club would need to contribute itself alongside any fan or third-party funding. Alan Bloore suggested a fan-led crowdfunder run by the Supporters Trust, and whether funds the Trust already holds should go towards it was debated without agreement; that question has gone back to the Trust. Pete Harrison, who has professional experience with audio-visual suppliers, is obtaining comparison quotes, and the club will check whether the supplier would accept staged payments. A separate meeting is being arranged to weigh the screen against Academy support as the FAB's fundraising priority. No commitment has been made yet.
