Why is some kit not in the club shop, and who decides what is stocked?
The club shop is run by the club's retail partner, Fanatics, and stocking decisions are theirs to make commercially on the basis of expected demand. The club does not have direct control but does raise supporter demand with them. When the FAB asked in September 2026 about the grey travel kit (officially "travel gear", not an away training kit), Fanatics initially had no plans to stock it; after the club raised it, Fanatics agreed to stock it and it was expected in the shop imminently. Fanatics now has three years of Barnsley sales data to inform these decisions.
Release timing is also a common question. The club explained in August 2026 that the third kit is put on sale close to when the team will first wear it rather than all three kits being launched together, and that the goalkeeper kit launch was deliberately timed to coincide with a signing's unveiling. Supporters' questions about the away training range being released after the away match kit were passed to the kit team.
