Fan Avisory Board statement regarding recent supporter bans
The Barnsley FC Fan Advisory Board (FAB) is aware of recent communications issued to supporters following the Exeter City fixture on 7 March 2026, relating to the throwing of tennis balls onto the pitch.
We understand that this has generated discussion and concern amongst supporters.
We would like to clarify that the communication received by individuals forms part of the club’s standard disciplinary process where a potential breach of Ground Regulations has been identified. This process typically includes the temporary suspension of ticketing access and an invitation to attend a meeting, allowing supporters the opportunity to discuss the incident and provide their account before any final decision is made.
At this stage, this does not automatically constitute a permanent ban, and outcomes are determined following that review process.
The FAB would also like to remind supporters that throwing objects onto the pitch is a breach of Ground Regulations (including Section 11) and may also fall within wider safety and public order considerations. As such, the club is required to investigate these incidents and act accordingly.
We recognise that supporters may have strong views around the circumstances that led to the protest. The FAB’s role is to ensure that supporters’ voices are heard and that processes are applied fairly and proportionately.
To support this, the FAB is offering to act as a neutral representative where appropriate. We are open to engaging with both the club and affected supporters and would welcome the opportunity to attend or facilitate discussions to ensure that all perspectives are understood.
Supporters who would like to raise concerns or seek guidance are encouraged to contact the FAB directly by emailing fab.bfcst@barnsleyfc.co.uk or by raising an issue here on this form:
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates where appropriate.
