Thank You to Our Founding Board Members
Since the Fan Advisory Board was established at the start of the 2024/25 season, a small group of dedicated volunteers have given their time, energy and expertise to get this board off the ground. As we now look to fill three vacant positions, we want to take a moment to properly recognise the people who helped build the foundations of the FAB.
Setting up a new Fan Advisory Board from scratch is no small undertaking. It means hours of meetings with the club, drafting terms of reference, shaping how the board operates, and doing all of this on a voluntary basis alongside work and family commitments. The following three members have done exactly that, and their contributions deserve proper recognition.
With thanks to
Heather Linney
Representing Barnsley FC Supporters' Trust
Heather has represented the Supporters' Trust on the FAB from the very beginning, bringing the voice of the Trust's membership into the room and ensuring that the wider supporter community has had a seat at the table as the board has taken shape. Her commitment to connecting the FAB's work with the Trust's broader engagement efforts has been invaluable.
Curtis Ledger
Representing supporters not living locally
Curtis has been the voice for Barnsley fans who follow the club from further afield — supporters who are every bit as passionate but don't always have the same access or visibility. His perspective has been vital in ensuring the FAB considers the full breadth of the fanbase, not just those who can make it to Oakwell every other Saturday.
Andy Gaskell
Representing matchday ticket purchasers
Andy has represented the matchday supporters — the fans who pay on the gate or buy individual tickets rather than holding a season ticket. It's a section of the fanbase that can easily be overlooked, and Andy has made sure their interests and experiences have been part of every conversation the FAB has had with the club.
All three have volunteered their time to attend meetings, contribute to drafting the FAB's terms of reference, and work constructively with the club to establish a board that genuinely represents Barnsley supporters. That groundwork matters enormously — it's what everything that follows will be built upon.
On behalf of the entire Fan Advisory Board and the wider Barnsley FC supporter community, thank you Heather, Curtis and Andy for everything you've put into getting the FAB to where it is today.
We'll be announcing details shortly on how supporters can put themselves forward for the three vacant positions on the board. In line with Independent Football Regulator guidance, these roles will be filled through a democratic process, giving fans a genuine say in who represents them. In the meantime, anyone interested in being nominated can register their interest by dropping an email to FAB.supporterstrust@barnsleyfc.co.uk
